SourPro

Privacy policy

SourPro keeps nothing about you, because it never asks.

In force from 3 October 2026. This page is the whole policy.

What the app stores, and where

Everything SourPro knows lives in the app's own storage on your iPhone: your bakes and their timelines, the photographs you take of dough and loaves, your notes and ratings, your starter and its feedings, what is on your pantry shelf, and your settings. It is included in your device backup like any other app's data.

You can remove it whenever you like. Settings › Start again clears the Bread Book or the Pantry; deleting the app removes all of it.

What the app never does

Permissions, and why each one is asked for

SourPro asks for a permission only at the moment it is needed, and each request says why. You can refuse any of them and the app carries on.

Notifications
So the app can ring when a step is due: a fold, shaping, the oven. It also carries a feeding reminder for your starter and a weekly reminder when something on the shelf is low. Nothing else, ever.
Camera and photo library
To photograph the dough and the finished loaf. The camera asks for permission on first use; choosing from the photo library needs none, because the app only ever sees the picture you pick. Every picture goes into the bake's own page in the Bread Book, on this phone, and nowhere else.
Home
To read a temperature sensor in your home, so the timeline can be paced to your kitchen. The reading is taken when you tap "ask the home sensor" and it never leaves your home. You can turn this off in Settings. A Shortcut you build yourself can hand the app a reading instead (a HomePod's, say); it is stored on the phone for three hours and used the same way.

The camera's opinion

When you ask how the dough is looking, the photograph is compared with your own past photographs using Apple's on-device image analysis. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence running iOS 27, the on-device model reads the photograph as well. Both run on the phone. SourPro does not use Apple's Private Cloud Compute or any other server.

Links out

The Pantry and the Starter tab offer links to buy flour, kit and a starter. Tapping one opens your browser; the app does not fetch anything and does not know whether you bought something. Some of those links go to Amazon and carry an affiliate tag: as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. They open the Amazon store for your phone's region — the UK, the US, Canada, or Australia, which also serves New Zealand — chosen from the region setting on the phone, which never leaves it. Once you are on a supplier's site, that supplier's own privacy policy applies.

Children

SourPro is a baking tool for a general audience and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes

If any of this changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. The promise that nothing leaves your phone is the design of the app, not a setting, and will not quietly change.

Questions

Use the form on the support page. Netlify, which hosts this site, holds the message until I read it; nothing about it reaches the app.
