Something not right? Write to me.

SourPro is made by one baker, and I read every message. Say which iPhone you have and what you were doing when it went wrong.

Your message is held by Netlify, which hosts this site, and read by me. It never touches the app.

Common questions

The timer ran out and nothing rang.
SourPro rings when a step begins, which is when the dough needs you, and once more when the loaf is out of the oven. If nothing arrived, check Settings › Notifications › SourPro on your iPhone, and any Focus mode you had on. The Bench shows a notice when notifications are off.
I closed the app halfway through a bake.
That is fine. The timeline is computed from the moment you started and saved on the phone; it does not depend on the app being open. Open it again and the Bench picks up where the dough is. The same goes for a restart of the phone and for a night's sleep.
The plan and my dough disagree.
The dough wins. If it is ready early, mark the step done and the next one begins now. If it needs longer, tap "give it a bit longer", choose how long, and everything after shifts with it. Kitchen temperature is set when you start a bake; a cooler kitchen stretches the fermentation steps and a warmer one shortens them.
"Ask the home sensor" finds nothing.
It reads temperature sensors that are set up in Apple's Home app, such as a thermostat or a HomeKit temperature sensor. HomePod keeps its own sensor to Apple's Home app, so a HomePod's reading arrives by a two-action Shortcut instead; Settings › Home sensor gives the steps. If you have more than one sensor, one in a room called Kitchen is preferred; otherwise the app asks which to use and remembers. The button can be hidden from Settings › Home sensor.
The camera's opinion says the Bread Book is too thin.
It compares your photograph with your own past bakes at the same stage, and needs at least three photographs at that stage, from bakes you rated, before it will say anything. Every rated bake sharpens it. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence running iOS 27, the on-device model reads the photograph as well. It is pattern-matching, not prophecy, and the poke test outranks it.
Where is my data, and how do I clear it?
On your phone, and nowhere else. Settings › Start again clears the Bread Book or the Pantry; deleting the app removes everything. See the privacy policy.
Is there an iPad or Android version?
Not yet. SourPro is built for the iPhone on the kitchen counter.

Something wrong with a loaf?

Reading the Loaf lives inside the app: tap the cog on any tab and open the library, or tick a symptom on the loaf's page in the Bread Book. It covers the usual suspects, from a dense crumb to a gummy middle, with causes in order of likelihood.
